Watervliet Boys Basketball

The Watervliet varsity boys basketball team welcomed non-conference opponent, Dowagiac into the home gymnasium on Tuesday, Jan. 7, beginning the 2025 section of their calendar with a victory over the Chieftains, 69-51.

In this battle, against winless Dowagiac, the Panthers (4-5) took control in the second half, to earn their second-straight win. In a back-and-forth opening half, decided by one-point differentials in both quarters, Watervliet took a 30-28 lead at half. The locker room “pep talk” got the Panthers going in the second half, as they managed to outscore the Chieftains, 21-12, in the third quarter, and 18-11 in the fourth quarter, to turn a close game into a double-digit victory.

Jacob Pleyer was the leading scorer for Watervliet, dropping 31 points in the win. He was joined in double figures by Emmett Williams, with 13 points.
