Several residents from the River Oaks Drive subdivision located off of Lewis Street were present at the April 1, 2025 Watervliet City Commissioner’s business meeting to call attention to their concerns about the current property tax rates. John Schneider was just one of the residents who spoke during the public comment portion of the meeting. He compared the Watervliet Property Taxes to those of nearby municipalities, and he is concerned that the city of Watervliet is much higher. Another resident from that same subdivision stated that her tax bill is comparable to a large home in St. Joseph near the river. They came to the meeting seeking help to answer their questions.
