Walter Richard Klug, 99, of Coloma, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021 at his home at Woodland Terrace in Coloma.
Walter was born July 14, 1922 in Sodus to Herman and Bertha (Jantz) Klug.
Walter joined the Army Air Force and served in World War II as a machinist. He was a member of two campaigns in Northern France and Germany, which later awarded him two battle stars. His creative and inventive nature helped the Army tremendously during this time.
On Oct. 13, 1946 in Coloma, he married Eleanor Wendzel; recently celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary. Walter loved to fish and hunt in his free time, and when younger, enjoyed riding his Indian motorcycle. His family and friends will remember him for his integrity, kindness, sense of humor and overall happy go lucky nature. He truly was the best husband, dad, and grandpa. Walter was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sodus.
Walter is survived by his wife, Eleanor Klug; his daughters, Joyce (John) Froehlich, Elaine (Ken) Gaynor, and Marlene (the late Frank) Moscardelli; his grandchildren, Kristi (Mike) Kurncz, Mike (Kristen) Froehlich, Mark (Kelly) Froehlich, Ryan (Linda) Moscardelli, and Jared Moscardelli; and his great-grandchildren, Justin, Cory, and Emily Kurncz, Marina, Alexander and Xavier Froehlich, Harper Froehlich, and baby boy Moscardelli, on the way.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Herbert, Edward, Leonard, Richard, and Arnold Klug, Elsie Bujack, Emma Heiden, Anna Falak, Hertha Andres, Helen Russell, and Dolores Regan; and his parents.
The family wants to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff at Woodland Terrace for the loving and dedicated care that they gave to Walter. The family also would like to extend their thanks to Caring Circle Hospice for the care that they provided.
The family will be holding services privately.
