Shirley’s life began June 3, 1942, in Decatur, Michigan. She was a lifetime area resident, graduating from Hartford High School where she met the love of her life Bill Jackson. Shirley loved the outdoors, be it camping with her husband, going fishing, or just sitting at her home enjoying watching the wildlife. Shirley, Bill and their daughter would take two trips a year, one to Florida where Shirley enjoyed walking the shoreline looking for shells and the other to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to the chain of lakes. She loved being near water. Shirley also enjoyed babies; you could always find her loving on the newest family member.
Shirley’s greatest joy was her family which includes her daughter, Amy (Rodney) Greene, grandson William Riley Greene, granddaughter Jordan Greene, a brother, John (Jan) Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley died Saturday, March 1, 2025, at home. She is preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Jackson, her parents Durwood and Joanna (Vliek) Smith, and a brother, Gary (Judith) Smith.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet and a Celebration of Life is being planned. You are invited to leave a message of comfort for Shirley’s family at hutchinsfuneral.com.
