Robert John Durfee, 73, died Feb. 12, 2021, in Fort Myers, FL.
Robert “Bob” was born in Owosso, MI, on June 26, 1947. He was the middle child of five boys born to Webster and Eunice (Rouse) Durfee.
Bob graduated from Coloma High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He spent two years in Washington, D.C. as a member of the Presidential Honor Guard and Drill Team. He participated in the inauguration of President Nixon and the funeral of President Eisenhower.
Bob married Charlene Theisen, and they raised three children together. He worked at the Watervliet Paper Company and Bo-Water Nu-Way Paper Company until his retirement. After retiring, he spent winters in Florida.
Bob could never sit still; he was always working on another project and was always singing while he worked.
Bob enjoyed motorcycles, family, and friends, especially his 1965 Coloma High School classmates and his friends in the Pine Ridge Palms community in Fort Myers.
In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his children: Elizabeth Bussing, Rob Durfee and John Durfee; grandson, Michael Bussing, and his wife, Erin; his brothers: Tom Durfee of Georgia, David Durfee and his wife, Violet, of Virginia, Jim Durfee and Richard Durfee, both of Alabama.
He is preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Justin Bussing.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a family memorial gathering at a later date.
