RICHARD W. FOX


Richard W. Fox, 95, of Watervliet, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023 at his residence.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 9 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma, where the family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. Donations in memory of Dick may be made to Salem Lutheran or HOPE Resources Food Pantry in Coloma. Dick was born Dec. 20, 1927 in Mishawaka to Merle and Edyth (Keller) Fox. He graduated from Watervliet High School in 1946 then joined the Army, stationed in Osaka Japan until 1948. After the service he was employed as a teller at 1st National Bank in Watervliet then joined Scowcroft Sheet Metal where he worked as a purchasing agent until his retirement in 1993.

Dick was a very active member of Salem Lutheran Church in Coloma, serving in various capacities such as usher and secretary to the board. He was also active in his community serving as a Watervliet City Commissioner, member of the fireboard, library board, along with being an active member of Watervliet Lions Club.

He was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, and uncle. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, hunting, watching Michigan football and spending the winters in Florida.

Dick is survived by his wife Joan (DeField) whom he married Aug. 20, 1950 in Coloma; a son Rick Fox of Watervliet, daughter Jill (Michael) Cullitan of Three Rivers, a brother John (Sharon) Fox of Coloma, and a sister Sharon (Dave Click) Fox of Manchester, MI. Also surviving are five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his twin sister Ruth McGee.
