Reminiscing with Pearl Playford

I am, and always have been, a firm believer in the old adage that “where there is a will, there is a way.” And I am again reminded of it in a newspaper story printed just recently. The interesting account tells of Miss Judy Strong, 17-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lucian Strong, of Berrien Center, and not many miles from here.

It was five years ago when Miss Judy was 13 years of age that she determined to attend college following her high school course. And it was then that she conceived the idea of going into the bee business. Judy with the assistance of her father, who is an experienced bee keeper, looks after 40 hives and her work is to pack the honey and distribute it to markets in the area and she also sells it at roadside stands.
