Press Box Player of the Week for July 4, 2024 is Sam Crago of Watervliet Athletics.
Sam is an outfielder on the Panther state championship baseball team, playing both left and right fields. In the final game of the season he was on base three times with a walk, single, double, scored two runs and was part of the lower lineup that played exceptionally well throughout their playoff run.
His double in the championship game was part of their three-run fourth-inning rally, scoring later on a sacrifice fly to give the Panthers a 2-0 lead. That run would end up becoming the game-winner when they won 9-1. Sam again reached base in the seventh inning with a walk, then scored on an infield play when the Lumen Christi defense began to self-destruct.
