PATSY SUE STONE


 Patsy (Hood) Stone, age 88, of Coloma, MI, formerly of Marion, IL, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, peacefully at home.

 Patsy began her life on Aug. 13, 1936, in West Frankfort, IL, the daughter of Harold and Geneva (Short) Hood. She was united in marriage to Jack Stone and shared 67 years of marriage.

 As a wife she followed the Army orders which took Patsy, Jack and their two children to postings in Alabama, Germany twice, St. Louis, and Washington. After the children graduated, Jack and Patsy were stationed in Greece and Kentucky. Patsy was extremely organized and could have an entire house packed and moved in a week. She was a wonderful mother who always found a job wherever the Army orders dictated. She worked as a nurse’s aide, teacher’s assistant, pharmacy tech, secretary and accountant. While stationed the second time in Germany, she and Jack joined a square-dancing club and was proud to share they danced on Vaalseeberg Hill in Limburg Netherland called the border triangle, where three countries meet, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. When Jack retired from the Army, they settled in Marmaduke, AR. While there she worked at Martin Sprocket and Gear and Darling Store Fixtures. They moved to Marion, IL until 2020 when she moved to Coloma, MI to be near her son and family.

 Patsy’s surviving family includes son, Jack (Daryla) Stone, grandsons, Joshua (Heather) Stone, Eric Hultz, Marc Hultz, great-grandsons, Max (Alysse) Stone, Bentley Stone, great-great-grandson Waylon Stone, brother Harold (Diane) Hood, nephew Bret Hood and family, and sister-in-law Norma Hood and family.

 She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, brother Richard Hood, beloved daughter Vickie (Stone) Hultz, sister-in-law Carol (Fasol) Hood, and great-granddaughter Harley Stone.
