Joyce was born Feb. 5, 1935 in Benton Harbor to Cecil and Gladys (Schaus) Queen. She enjoyed many activities with good friends over the years starting back in the late sixties. She was on a bowling league, a member of Curtis School Women’s Club, and enjoyed trips for plays and shopping. Her house was a gathering place for family and friends. Many neighborhood boys were loved and fed at Joyce’s house.
Joyce never slowed down and was known for her physical stamina. She was widowed at age 57 and persevered, showing her strong will and determination. Everyone was always amazed at her impeccable memory and stories of the past. She enjoyed anyone who would stop by anytime for a visit.
Her greatest joy was seeing her family. She lived the last four years of her life at The Willow’s Assisted Living in St. Joseph. Joyce loved playing bingo and saved the chocolate winnings for Pastor Jeff. She was a big help to others around her because of her sharp mind and the fact that she enjoyed being around people.
Joyce is survived by a son Rockne (Sharon) Kraiger, her daughter Valorie Tomasini, three sisters, Patricia Frosolone, Holly Danneffel, and Sharon Lezak. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law Beth Kraiger, and several grand and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth in 1993, a son Kenneth, son-in-law Ronald Tomasini, brother Walter Queen, and sisters Lois Gleason and Nancy Sheckles.
