John H. Bellinger, 92, of Benton Harbor, passed away Dec. 4, 2024 at home with his family by his side.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday, Dec. 27 at 1 p.m. at Twelve Corners Community Church, 3287 Hicks Avenue, Benton Harbor. In lieu of flowers, John wanted donations to go to the Humane Society of Berrien County, Shriners Hospital or Hospice at Home. John was born on June 21, 1932 in Benton Harbor to Henry and Gladys (nee Osborne) Bellinger. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1950. He enjoyed many activities like fishing, boating, hunting, woodworking and membership in the Lions Club, Elks, Masons, Shriners and American Legion. John served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and later served as a police officer for Watervliet, Coloma, Benton Harbor and Berrien County Sheriff’s Departments, retiring from Merritt Engineering and Custom Tool & Die Co.
John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda (nee McCauley) Bellinger, daughter Karen Reinhardt, son Kurt Bellinger, grandchildren Jennifer (Doug) Wall, Amy (Mark) Nolte, Jason (Kelsie) Reinhardt, Scott Layton, Kelly (Jeff) Mosier, great-grandchildren Kyle, Andrew, Ryan, Maddox, Lilly, Faith, Ashtynn, Alex, Alexis, Kaiytlyn, Kylee, Scotty and Cameron and great-great-grandson Lane and his pooch Max.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by Dorothy (nee Fischer) Bellinger, mother of his children.
