Van Buren County 4-H sponsors Tractor, Truck, or Treat, Oct. 5

Get ready for an early jump on Halloween trick or treating when Van Buren County 4-H sponsors their second annual Tractor, Truck, or Treat. West Valley 4-H Livestock Key Leader Amy Mortimore says, “The event is like ‘touch-a-truck’ meets ‘trunk-or-treat.’ What a better way to celebrate 4-H and children.”

Treaters will decorate a tractor, truck, emergency vehicle, or farm equipment that will be used to distribute treats to children. Just like any other trunk or treat, the amount of decoration is up to the treaters. Event Coordinator Denise Noble explained, “The concept came from Hamilton’s Cultivate Community Church’s Truck or Treat event and the Kalamazoo Junior League’s Touch a Truck event. The fairgrounds has lots of room to spread out and allow for large vehicles, so we combined the two.”

Several businesses, organizations, and proud truck owners already signed up to pass out candy to children at the Van Buren County Fairgrounds, located at 55670 CR 681, Hartford, on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, from 1-5 p.m. There is no cost to families. To register a vehicle, send a request to v.voyagers@yahoo.com.
