Two New Testament Gospel accounts, Matthew and Luke, present the Christmas story. Matthew contains more information about Joseph and first century politics, while Luke gives Mary’s perspective, including her famous “Magnificat” extoling God’s grace and kindness and reviewing His mercy to the poor and downtrodden. Mary also notes God’s faithfulness to Israel and to the descendants of Abraham. (Luke 2:46-55)
