DR. MICHAEL DUNN serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Dowagiac Public Schools. He has earned his Master’s in Secondary Education from Indiana University Northwest and has extensive education experience. He has worked as an English teacher, curriculum director, adjunct professor and elementary principal. He also has his educational doctorate in leadership and a specialist degree in superintendency and educational system administration.

Two finalists have been named for the superintendent position over the Hartford Public Schools (HPS) after the field has been whittled down from ten applicants. They are Nick Blackmer who is currently employed by the district as the High School Principal and Dr. Michael Dunn who serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Dowagiac Public Schools.

After four candidates were interviewed this week and the board members, staff, and members of the community witnessed an hour-long interview the two men rose to the top.

As the HPS school board moves closer to selecting its next superintendent, the interviews conducted this week brought the field down to two. The board has invited both Blackmer and Dunn back for a final interview to be held on August 26 and 27.
