Hartford City Council plans for good use of taxpayers’ dollars, hears a proposal from a Boy Scout, and sets a plan for infrastructure repair work

City officials of Hartford welcomed a special guest to their business meeting on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025. Eric Bender, a Boy Scout who is looking to complete his Eagle Scout project, addressed the board with a proposal for a new fire bowl that will be specifically used for the proper retirement of any United States of America flags during different celebratory occasions.

Bender will be working out more details of the project and will present them at the next council meeting.

Van Buren Conservation District submitted its report dated December 2024. In the report, it announced the annual VBCD Tree Sale which opened on January 1, 2025. Also in the report, Commissioner Jane Danger called attention to the Conservation Needs Assessment Survey. The VBCD is looking to hear from citizens to take the quick survey to guide conservation in Van Buren County.
