ETTA M. LITTLE

Etta M. Little, 70, of Benton Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024. She was born on April 7, 1954 in Benton Harbor to James and Rosa Henderson. Etta was a member of the Safe Harbor Church in Sodus. She was an area caregiver for many years, taking care of her loved ones with great pride. Etta enjoyed her family and lived with her mother, Rosa Newton, for the last eight years.

Etta was very loved by her family, as well as everyone she interacted with. Etta enjoyed sharing stories about her family, especially about her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She loved being creative through crocheting, sewing, cooking, baking, painting, and more. Etta loved roosters, especially when her family gifted items that were roosters. One dish that she loved to make for everyone was chicken and dumplings.

Etta not only made an impact on her family, but with everyone she interacted with. When one of her children or grandchildren would take her to the store, she would stop and talk to anyone. She would talk to anyone for hours and hours, if you’d let her. Etta loved singing, especially to her babies. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Etta’s family includes her mother Rosa Newton of Benton Township, her sister, Corda (Richard) Moss of Decatur, her husband-in-love James Little of Watervliet; her children, Jennifer Little of St. Joseph, Jason (Crystal) Little of Coloma, and Julie Little of Bridgman; her sons-in-love Robert, Greg, Adrian, and Howard; her grandchildren Brittany (Les), Stephanie, Zachary (Nicole), Alyssa (Brandon), Ashley, Anthony, Jeremiah, Josiah, Robert III, Samantha, Nic, and Tramain; her great-grandchildren June, Aziah, Rosalynn, Nova, Sophia, Reign, Arianna, A’Leah, Caspian, Tramain Jr., Neveah, and Adalynn, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Etta was preceded in death by her father James Henderson, her step-father Walter Newton, and her sister, Eva Williams.

Services celebrating her life were held on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Safe Harbor Church of God of Prophecy at 3552 South Pipestone Road in Sodus. Burial followed in North Shore Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are by the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township. Please share messages or memories at www.florin.net.
