Emma Adams was a cherished wife and mother, beloved “Mimi”, and a great friend to many during her 80 years.
Emma Lou Vaughn was born November 24, 1940, to Jack and Elsie (Porter) Vaughn in Lake City, Arkansas. Relocating to Coloma, Michigan, Emma graduated from Coloma High School in 1958. She married the love of her life, Richard Adams, in 1959. They were married 62 years.
Emma Adams worked as a bookkeeper until her children, Michael and Marcia, were born. Then Richard was transferred to Fort Smith, Arkansas, with Whirlpool Corp in 1967, and they lived there 34 years. They retired to Muldrow, Oklahoma, enjoying the country life for twenty years, watching their grandsons grow up. Emma bloomed wherever she was planted, making a beautiful home each time.
After a brief illness, Emma passed from this life on July 11, 2021, at her home in Muldrow.
Emma was a member of College Terrace/West-Ark Church of Christ for 54 years. Excelling at genealogy research and scrapbooking, she delighted most in being Mimi to her grand and great-grandchildren. Service oriented, Emma volunteered for over forty years, at Sparks, St. Edward/Mercy Hospitals. Also, volunteering many years at Fort Smith and Muldrow Schools, she was awarded PTA Life Memberships at Echols Elementary and Chaffin Junior High. Emma was a Girl Scout volunteer leader many years, too. Emma never met a stranger, reaching out to make connections with people everywhere she went, keeping them in close correspondence for decades. She will be greatly missed by many.
Emma was preceded in death by her parents and her son. She is survived by her husband, Richard Adams, of Muldrow; daughter, Marcia (Jeff) Tomlin, of Muldrow; grandsons, Stephen (Sarah) Tomlin and Alex (Rachel) Tomlin, of Fort Smith; great-grandchildren, Sarah Kate and Isaac Tomlin, of Fort Smith. She also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Bill Adams, of Hartford, Michigan.
Funeral arrangements are through Lewis Funeral Home, with a funeral service that was held Thursday, July 15 at Lewis chapel. Private family burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Smith.
