EDITH MUNCHOW


Edith (Zielke Bujack Stohrer) Munchow, 77, of Coloma, passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2022 at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at Salem Lutheran Church in Coloma. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Burial will be in North Shore Memory Gardens. Donations in memory of Edith may be made to Salem Lutheran Church of which she was an active member, HOPE Resources, Humane Society of Southwest Michigan, or the North Berrien Senior Center. Edith was born March 24, 1945 in Bridgman to Raymond and Patricia (Brooks) Zielke. She was adopted March 22, 1955 by Louis and Elsie (Klug) Bujack. On Dec. 20, 1964 she married Robert Stohrer whom she owned and operated Fruitbelt TV and Antenna Service with for 17 years. On May 16, 1992 she married Frederick Munchow who preceded her in death on March 31, 2022.

Edith was a 1963 graduate of Eau Claire High School and Data Entry Trade School in South Bend, Indiana. She also attended Lake Michigan College and worked for All Phase Electric for over 20 years, retiring in 2001.

As an active member of Salem, she sang in the choir, was a substitute Sunday School teacher, acted as secretary, treasurer, and chairman of Mary Martha Guild, and was the secretary to the Council and Voters Assembly for about 20 years. Edith was also secretary, treasurer, and chairman of TOPS, along with being a board member and former president of the North Berrien Historical Society where she and Fred were instrumental in getting a millage to support the museum. In the free time she had left Edith enjoyed reading, coloring, and doing word searches.

Survivors include two daughters, Lori (Steve) Race and Lois (Brent) Rainwater; and two step-sons, Fred (Sandi) Munchow and Jim (Donna) Munchow. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Victoria Allen, Amanda (Brett) Hastilow, William Allen Jr., Elizabeth (Kieran) McCormack, Kristen Chatman, Matthew Race, James (Lauren) Munchow, Katherine (Andrew) Hoyt, Sarah (Phil) Roberts, Jeffrey Munchow and Rebekkah (Caleb) Ausbury; nine great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Shirley Lawrence and a half-brother, Steve Zielke.

In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was preceded in death by her brother Raymond Bujack.
