Devan Allen Erwin, 73, of Watervliet died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, at his residence.
Services celebrating his life will be held from 12 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Spring Lake Mobile Home Park, 604 West John Beers Road, Stevensville, in the Community Center. Devan was born on April 1, 1949 in Benton Harbor to Daisy Jean (Hacker) and Gerald Erwin. He was married to the former Karen Rylski. He was an independent long haul truck driver for more than 20 years. Devan loved life and was the life of the party. He was a car enthusiast and loved racing. Devan participated in many car shows with his Rat Rod. He loved food and having dinner with his family and friends. Devan also enjoyed socializing with his fellow residents at the Tri-City Village in Watervliet. He has many lifelong friends to this day.
His family includes his children, Wendy (Adrian) Erwin of Berwyn, IL and Gerald (Kerrie) Erwin of Chicago, IL; his brother and sisters, Debbie (Carl) Slavings, Gary (Jane) Erwin, Jane (Mark) Wahl, Gail Erwin, and Gwinn (Marc) Skidmore; and his many nieces and nephews.
