Coloma Public Library celebrates the 20th Anniversary of MeLCat resource-sharing

Writer: Tri-City RecordTri-City Record

The Michigan eLibrary Catalog (MeLCat) is celebrating 20 years of connecting libraries and sharing resources across the state. Since its launch in 2005, MeLCat has expanded from 12 member libraries to over 435, offering access to more than 34 million items.

Coloma Public Library has participated in MeLCat since 2008. In 2024 alone, the Coloma library fulfilled 3,973 patron requests, helping connect this community with books, movies, music, and more. By giving patrons access to materials from libraries across Michigan, MeLCat expands the local collection far beyond Coloma’s physical shelves, ensuring that more resources are available to those who need them.
