C.L. Collins went to be with the Lord on June 30, 2023.
C.L. was born in Kennett, Missouri on Sept. 28, 1930 and later moved to Michigan working various jobs and also where he settled down to raise a family with his first wife Roberta, who preceded him in death in 1981. He worked at Bendix, where he retired after 30 years. On May 14, 1983 C.L. married his wife Carolyn whom he always called his “sweet heart” and had spent the past 40 years with. Blending two families and being the patriarch of five generations dubbed him the title of great-great-grandpa and left a plethora of family members surviving.
Due to his intuitive mind and creative hands, C.L. was always tinkering with something. You would often find him working on crossword puzzles and sucking on a tootsie roll pop. He always had memories to share, stories to tell, and the funniest jokes. C.L. was a Korean War Veteran and enjoyed working in his yard, mowing and gardening, and shooting his guns. He will be greatly missed by many and always loved by everyone.
C.L. is survived by his wife Carolyn; son Dale (Judy) Collins; daughter Cherry Lynn Collins; sister Betty (Buck) Moore; and stepsons Jamie (Peggy) Parrigin, Tim (Barbara) Parrigin, and Randy (Doreen) Parrigin. Also surviving are many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.
Funeral services are being held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 6 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will take place in Coloma Cemetery. Those wishing to leave a message or share a memory with the family online may do so at www.duffieldpastrick.com.
