Betty Jane Tillman, 88, formerly of Coloma, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024 in Noblesville, Indiana.
Betty’s funeral service was held on Monday, Nov. 11 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in South Haven. Private burial took place at Mount Ever Rest Memorial Park South in Kalamazoo. Betty was born June 12, 1936 in Missouri to Oscar and Thula (Davis) Hensley. She married William Wesley Harris on Feb. 20, 1954 and had three children. After he passed in 1992, she married Eugene Tillman in 2004. Prior to her retirement, Betty had been employed as a lab technician for Leco Corporation in St. Joseph. She was also a long-time member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in South Haven. Betty enjoyed reading her Bible, teaching Sunday School, going to church, singing in the choir and spending time with family.
Betty is survived by her daughter Donna (Mike) Dermody of Buchanan; sons Darrell (Kathy) Harris of Fishers, IN and Don (Paula) Harris of Bitely, MI; her sister Glenda Durbin of Parchment, MI; brother Ron Hensley of Milwaukee, WI; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harris in 1992 and second husband, Eugene Tillman in 2018; her parents, Oscar and Thula; her step-mother, Cecil Hensley; sisters, Juanita Flannigan, Laverne Atherton, and Doris “Dussie” Murphy; and her brothers, Russell Hensley and Jim Hensley.
