Ada M. Wetzel, 106, of Coloma, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024 at Woodland Terrace of Paw Paw Lake.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Donations in memory of Ada may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Those wishing so leave an online message of remembrance may do so at www.duffieldpastrick.com.
Ada was born March 2, 1918 in Millburg to Arthur and Lottie Antio. In her earlier years she was formerly employed by Smart Set in St. Joseph as a beautician and, along with her husband Dale, was the owner of Wetzel’s Motel in Coloma. Ada was Coloma’s oldest living citizen, graduating from Coloma High School, and earning her varsity letter in basketball. She was also a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17 in Benton Harbor. In her free time she enjoyed reading, making lap robes for the D.A.V. and North Berrien Senior Center, gardening, and bowling. Playing bingo was also one of her all-time favorite things to do along with decorating for all of the holidays. She always looked forward to handing out candy to the kids on Halloween.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dale, who was truly the love of her life as they did everything together. She was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Ada is survived by a host of nieces and nephews along with their families who were all special and dear to her heart. Also surviving is her close, extended family of many, many years, Cheryl and Dylan Raucci.
